Hi All:
i have two publications in my local computer, then i go to
distributor tab in publisher and distributor properties ,which shows two
distributor database there. that make sense coz i have two publication one
for each. is that right?
my question is why in the publisher tab of publisher and distributor
properties only has one distributorDB ?
Cheers
nick
I don't think so. Each publisher can use a single distribution database.
However you can have one or more distribution database per server.
So consider three publishers a, b, and c. Publisher a and publisher b use
the distribution database d1 on publisher c. Publisher c used a local
distribution database on publisher c called distribution. You could also
configure publisher a to use d2 (another distribution database) on publisher
c and publisher b could still use d1 on publisher c.

|||Nick,
Hilary is correct, but what you are thinking of is
something I also assumed existed when I first saw the
option of several distribution databases. I still think
this would be a good idea as disaster recovery is far
more versatile if the msrepl_commands table could be
specific to a publication rather than a publisher ie if
one publisher has 2 transactional publications, they'd go
into separate distribution databases. Unfortunately this
would require a huge amount of coding to amalgamate
different notification data so I guess it's not going to
happen soon.

so in this case, two publication are sharing one distribution DB.

Distribution database gone but now can't get rid of publications
I have been messing around with Replication on MS Virtual Server.
Set up a Distributor on a seperate machine from the publication
database.
For some reason unkown my Distribution database went in Suspect Mode.
Finally got rid of it using
sp_dropdistributiondb @.database = 'distribution'
Now I can't get delete any of my publications.
They still look towards my Distribution database which is no longer a
distributor
tried
exec sp_dropsubscription
@.publication='AdventureWorksCentralPublication',@.a rticle='all',@.subscriber='all',
@.ignore_distributor=1
sp_removedbreplication
SHould I just re-set up my Distributor again and leave the
publications? Would that even work?
THere has to be some way to delete my publications
Thanks
Mike
Did you run sp_removedbreplication on the publisher and subscribers also? If
so, and you have removed the distribution database then perhaps you are just
seing residual data from tempdb which is reported in the replication monitor.
try refreshing the replication monitor (sp_MSload_replication_status) to see
if this removes the reference.

Distribution Agent TimeOut
I have setup pull transactional replication with multiple publications and
distribution agents.
One of my distribution agent always says the following error--
Timeout expired
(Source: ODBC SQL Server Driver (ODBC); Error number: S1T00)
while other agents are executed just fine..
any suggestions..?
Regards,
bump up LoginTimeout and QueryTimeout to 120.
